The USTA helped kick off National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month during the US Open. Numerous media outlets picked up the momentum and reported on the national movement to halt childhood obesity and the USTA Free Tennis Play Days in conjunction with Nickelodeon's Worldwide Day of Play, being hosted in more than 220 location in USTA Southern.

Nickelodeon's World Wide Day of Tennis Play will take place this Saturday, September 22, at the Copeland-Cox Tennis Center in Mobile from 2-4 p.m. It is free to the public and is open to kids ages 7-18.

 

Nickelodeon and the U.S. Tennis Association are teaming up to encourage youth to "put more play in your day" with a "Free Tennis Play Day" at the H. Odell Weeks Activities Center on Saturday.

 

September is National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month and one program says tennis is the perfect sport to get kids active. That group is "Learning Excellence Through Tennis (LETT)." It’s a program of the Birmingham Area Tennis Association and is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization. According to its website, LETT is also a USTA member organization.
