USTA Arkansas is proud to announce the success of its partnership with the Arkansas Tennis Patrons Foundation to create a program that brings tennis to the Penick Boys & Girls Club, located in Little Rock, Arkansas.
This program taught children the basic skills of tennis, along with how to play and rules of the game. Tennis improves children’s mental, social, and physical development and gives them a life-long sport that will keep them active.
“This is an exciting and inspiring initiative launched at the Penick Boys and Girls Club through the generous support of the Arkansas Tennis Patrons Foundation,” says USTA Arkansas President Brad Phelps. “We hope initiatives like this one, as well as those we are seeing in other parts of Arkansas, will help introduce more young people to this great game.”
James Cowan IV, head tennis coach at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, ran the program, which ran June 17-August 3 on Monday-Thursday.
