2021 USTA Arkansas College Scholarship


This scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior based on the following criteria:

  • Volunteerism through tennis (The selection committee places special emphasis on an applicant’s volunteerism through tennis.) 
  • Sportsmanship, citizenship, and character
  • Personal achievements
  • Community and school involvement 

On a separate sheet please list your volunteer (non-compensated), work, civic, and athletic activities. Please include a detailed explanation of these activities,

demonstrating to the committee that you are deserving of this scholarship.

STF College Scholarship


The Southern Tennis Foundation (STF) will award ten $1,000 scholarships for incoming college freshmen in 2021 renewable for the next three years if the student maintains a 3.0 or better GPA, remains a full-time student, and does not otherwise receive a full college scholarship.

USTA Foundation College Scholarships 



Each year, the USTA Foundation awards college scholarships to deserving youth who have participated in USTA National Junior Tennis & Learning (NJTL) and/or other organized youth tennis programs.

In order to access the USTA Foundation Scholarship application, you must first register with the system using the instructions below.

  2. From the right side of the screen, follow the link to apply for a scholarship or grant. You will be redirected to the Welcome to the USTA Foundation Funding Portal Registration landing page. 
  3. From this page, navigate to the field Are you applying as an individual or organization? and click individual from the drop-down menu.
  4. Please complete as many fields as possible, and note that the fields in bold are required. Then, click the Submit Request button at the end of the page.

Recipients must be between the ages of 16 and 21, have diabetes, and must play tennis competitively in tournaments, high school, or college.


WHAT:  Two one-time national awards of $10,000 each given annually to two young people aged 16-21 who have diabetes and play tennis competitively in tournaments or on their school team. Eight regional awards of $5,000 each will also be granted.  The awards are to be used for education, tennis development, and/or medical care.  Winners of the two national awards will be presented their awards by Billie Jean King, Diane Donnelly Stone, and Tracey Donnelly Maltby in 2021 – date and location to be determined.

WHY:  To honor the achievements and determination of two long-time World TeamTennis, Inc. executives, Diane Donnelly Stone and Tracey Donnelly Maltby, and to encourage young people with diabetes to lead full, active lives.  Diane and Tracey Donnelly are sisters who grew up living with diabetes.  Diane and Tracey were diagnosed with Type I diabetes as children and their father also has Type I diabetes.  Introduced to tennis by their parents at a young age, Diane and Tracey went on to compete in high school and national events.  Both earned full athletic scholarships to Big Ten universities.  Diane was a three-time all-American and NCAA doubles champion at Northwestern University and Tracey achieved all-Big Ten honors at the University of Iowa.

Diabetes is no match for these dynamic women.  With the same spirit that characterized the legendary career of Billie Jean King, Diane and Tracey lead full, healthy, and active lives.  Their diabetes has taught them to be disciplined and to stay in top physical shape.


ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:  You must:  1) be between the ages 16 to 21 (male or female); 2) be in good academic standing at school; 3) be able to provide doctor’s confirmation of diabetes diagnosis; 4) currently be a competitive tennis player either in high school or college or in tournaments; 5) show strong personal character, values, sportsmanship and community involvement; and 6) demonstrate financial need as indicated on the application.


HOW TO APPLY:  Applications must be received by May 1, 2021, along with two recommendation letters and a short essay regarding  the significance of diabetes in your life. Applicants who are chosen as finalists may be asked to provide a copy of their Parents/Guardians' Federal Income Tax Return forms for the past two years.
