2017 Mixed Doubles Sectional Championship

Arkansas teams showed up to defend their stomping grounds at the Mixed Doubles Sectional Championship held in Little Rock, Arkansas. The teams walked away with two championship titles and one finalist. 

There were 69 teams with approximately 630 players who competed in nine levels: 18 & Over - 6.0, 7.0, 8.0, 9.0, 10.0 Combined and 40 & Over - 6.0, 7.0, 8.0, and 9.0. The Southern chapions moved to compete at Nationals that was being held in Mobile, Alabama. 

This tournament had food provided by Tyson Foods, Whole Hog, Chick-fil-a, and Firehouse Subs. In addition to the intense tennis matches, we also had a special guest apparent made by Kai, a penguin from the Little Rock Zoo. 

Arkansas would like to recongize a few teams for their hard work at sectionals:

The 18 & Over 6.0 team captained by Michelle Wood and Susan Altrui. This team won the championship title in the finals to Knoxville, Tennesse (2-1).

The 18 & Over 10.0 team captained by Lindsey Gillum. This team won the championship title by winning 3-0 in round robin play. 

The 40 & Over 9.0 team captained by Alexis Sixbey. This team was the finalist in their division.

Special Recongition to the 18 & Over 10.0 team captianed by Lindsey Gillum for making it to the semi-finals in the Mixed Doubles National Championship. Arkansas is very proud of this team and all their hard work and dedication to the sport of tennis.
