Arkansas Players Represented - 2012 USTA National Championships
by Brittany Murphy, 15 August 2012
The best of the best twelve and under boys
from the entire nation made their way
to Burns Park Tennis Center in North Little
Rock August 5-10th. All vying for the title
of the #1 twelve year old tennis player in the
country. Arkansas was very honored to host
such a prestigious event. Four young players
represented the state of Arkansas.
The Arkansas players include: Wesley Barnett, Foster Rogers, Anil Chakka, and Brandon Lupinek. Each player enjoyed his experience and learned a great deal about what it takes to be a top competitive junior. Brandon Lupinek "will be more prepared to change his game as needed" the next time him plays. He sees that an "improved attitude and greater confidence will be needed" to compete on a national level.
Wesley Barnett and Anil Chakka won several rounds with Chakka advancing to the round of 16. “Just being at a National tournament surrounded by 128 of the top players is a good feeling,” the 7th grader from Pulaski Academy said.
The Arkansas Tennis Association congratulates all the Arkansas players that competed in this prestigious event.
