Champions Off the Court - Hugh Finkelstein

Many people, including Hugh Finkelstein, love tennis because it is a challenge. However, for Hugh, this is not the only thing he loves because of the challenge. Hugh loves to find a challenge in everything he does, including his career. Recently, Hugh was able to accept the position as the new Little Rock District Judge. Before Hugh was appointed Judge, he served our community as a lawyer. HughF1

For the first four years of his career, Hugh worked in a private firm where he mostly defended people who were accused of criminal offenses. While working here, some of the cases started to weigh heavily on his mind and he felt like he was not doing his part to better the community. Due to this, Hugh decided to pursue a career as a prosecuting attorney. Through this career, Hugh served Pulaski County for almost 20 years, then Faulkner County for two and a half years.

When Hugh is not playing tennis or serving as a judge, he enjoys mentoring young lawyers. Hugh also serves as a professor at the University of Arkansas in Little Rock where he teaches Lawyering Skills. Through his positions, he enjoys reminding everyone that every person deserves justices and a fair trial.

USTA Arkansas is very proud of Hugh for all of his hard work that he has done in the community to make a difference! We would like to thank Hugh for being a Champion on and off the court! Do you know someone making a difference in the community? Submit their name and story by clicking here!
