UTSA ARKANSAS AWARDS

The Diversity & Inclusion Award - Presented to an individual or organization who demonstrates, through tennis, sustained commitment to diversity and inclusion through the following actions: actively champions, visibly embraces and celebrates diversity on and off the court by employing goals and strategies that create an inclusive environment; reaches out to a diverse audience through participation in community activities that celebrate diversity and inclusion; provides leadership opportunities that reflect interest in individual traits, skills, and talents of others; and proactively seeks opinions and gathers feedback from a diverse audience to gain additional perspectives and learn from others.  

The Herschel Friday Outstanding Junior Award – In recognition of ability and excellence in junior tennis, and achievements in sportsmanship, character, and citizenship.

The Jay Freeman Most Improved Junior Player Award – In recognition of their effort, dedication, and personal improvement in tennis.

The Dr. Ted Bailey Sportsmanship Junior Award – In recognition of an outstanding demonstration of the qualities and behaviors of good sportsmanship.

Henry Doyle Outstanding Senior – In recognition of leadership and personal example throughout the tennis community in Arkansas.

Victor Sheshunoff Meritorious Education Award – In recognition of an individual or program who has developed an outstanding tennis initiative, which provides leadership and inspiration in junior programming and benefits the growth of tennis.

Arkansas Tennis Professional of the Year – In recognition of outstanding contributions to and cooperation with the Arkansas Tennis Association in the advancement and growth of Arkansas Tennis.

Patrick M. Riley Umpire of the Year – In recognition of outstanding contributions to tennis officiating in Arkansas.

Family of the Year – In recognition and appreciation of active participation in the development and promotion of tennis in Arkansas.

Member Organization of the Year – In recognition and appreciation of outstanding efforts in promoting tennis in Arkansas and cooperation with the Arkansas Tennis Association.

Barbara Brewer Community Service Award – In recognition of outstanding contributions and dedication to the development and promotion of tennis in Arkansas Communities.

Adult Tournament of the Year – Presented to the ATA sanctioned adult tournament in Arkansas that has best demonstrated the high standards upheld by the ATA in organizing and conducting a sanctioned adult tournament.

Junior Tournament of the Year - Presented to the ATA sanctioned junior tournament in Arkansas that has best demonstrated the high standards upheld by the ATA in organizing and conducting a sanctioned junior tournament.

Special Tennis Event of the Year – Presented annually to a special tennis event in Arkansas that has been exemplary in the promotion and support of tennis.

USTA League Captain of the Year -  The adult captain of the year is awarded to an outstanding USTA League captain in Arkansas who has achieved a level of excellence in captaining, demonstrating character, sportsmanship, and leadership.

Rising Star Award - In recognition of ability and excellence as well as achievements in sportsmanship, character, and citizenship in 10 and Under junior tennis.
